Ted Baker’s ‘Drawing Room’ contest, Floral Street, WC2

Ted Baker staged another exciting promotion over the weekend which involved inviting customers to visit their flagship stored around the world, and having the opportunity to be sketched live by some of fashion’s top illustrators.  Customers got dressed ‘Ted to toe’ before being snapped in the in-store photo booth.

The photos were sent via instagram to a special illustrators studio (Ted’s Drawing Room) which could be watched live on the web.  The illustrators then those their ‘muses’ from the photos, drawing the looks they liked best.  Those lucky enough to be selected were sent a digital copy to share and show off, before receiving a signed and framed portrait shortly after.

This was such a great promotion, not least because it encouraged people who may not normally go into the store to visit and try on a whole outfit.  Richard and I were styled by the knowledgeable and contagiously passionate Martina in Covent Garden’s Floral Street branch.  She instinctively knew our styles and sizes, and selected a ‘Slick Rick’ blazer for me, which she combined with a pink tie and fabulous navy waistcoat with purple lining.

Trying on the clothes and being styled by an expert really made me appreciate the quality and attention to detail of the collection, and I am now a Ted Baker convert who is lusting after that waistcoat!  Alas, my brother and I were not chosen to have our portraits sketched, but I loved our photo and the whole process so much that it was all worthwhile!

Check out the Ted Baker Facebook page to see sketches of the lucky muses, and keep your eyes peeled for their next exciting promotion.
