Nike/Liberty 2011 Launch Party
Liberty are known for frequently blurring the boundaries between high-end boutique and high-street style. Following on from a successful collaboration with Fred Perry last year, Liberty have joined forces with Nike to launch an exclusive range of high top trainers.
The launch event saw the store’s second floor turned into a gold and purple basketball themed locker room complete with hanging spheres. Eliza Doolittle took to the DJ decks to spin a selection of funky house classics. Guests sipped on Absolut Vodka cocktails and snacked on a selection ‘Surf & Turf’ kebabs, cream cheese cones and mini hot dogs. The crowd epitomised young and beautiful Hoxton cool, and as they tried on the first 4 styles to be released from the collection, I was reminded just how high the style stakes are out East…
I found myself walking through the Soho streets the other day thinking how much better I would look wearing a pair. They capture the Liberty prints, which make many a fashionista weak at the knees, with the stark edginess of Nike trainers. I imagine them looking great with faded blue skin tight jeans – perfect for strutting along Old Compton on lazy summer days.
The guys at Liberty have made a great video of the launch party:
